Vallelaghi - The geological route

An itinerary to discover glacial wells, ruins and ancient terracing, in a territory shaped by human activities and the power of nature
  • Start point: Viote del Bondone
  • Arrival point: Viote del Bondone
  • Trail sign: SAT: 618 - 619B

The route starts in the town of Vezzano, on the north-western slopes of Monte Bondone. A path connects the numerous glacial wells, called “giants' kettles”, left in the rocks by the water running under ancient glaciers. Some of these wells have been emptied of the material that over the centuries has obstructed them, highlighting the rock structure at a depth of more than ten metres.
