Lakes

One Network, four lakes and many species
In the rushes that surround the banks of Lamar and Terlago lake, various species of water and migratory birds find food and shelter. Above them often circles the black kite (Milvus migrans), which skilfully hunts fishes that rise to the surface. The same waters are home to the rare white-clawed crayfish  (Austropotamobius pallipes) and are sites of reproduction for various species of conservation interest like the yellow-bellied toad (Bombina variegata), which is present in Lamar lakes and the agile frog (Rana dalmatina) that inhabits the waters of Terlago.

Interesting for their environmental peculiarities are also the surroundings of these two small banks: the Abyss of Lamar, a deep cave that opens up in the limestone rocks that surround the same lake, is a relevant shelter for local groups of "bats" that gather together. The brown bear (Ursus arctos) lives in this area and takes food from the majestic secular beeches found in the woods.

Another interesting body of water is Lake Cei, small botanical gem of the Network. Here you can't miss the flowering of water lilies (Nymphaea alba) and yellow water-lilies (Nuphar lutea): at the end of Spring the delicate corollas of the first and the bright yellow of the second give life to the small body of water resembling the image of a painting. Lake Cei is one of the few places in Trentino where you can admire the violet shades of a rare and elegant flower called Siberian iris (Iris sibirica).
