Mid-Mountain meadows

Going to the valley
Walking down the paths that go to the pastures of Malga Brigolina and Malghet, at a lower lever, in the meadows around Lamar lakes and the area of Cei, in the warm season you can see colourful blooms and orchids. One of them is the rare Himantoglossum adriaticum that can be found close to Terlago: it is rather eye-catching because of its dimensions (it can go over 70 cm) and funny shape of the flowers that have a complex corolla.

Along the way you can also find some traces left by another unusual kind of bird: the red-backed shrike (Lanius collurio). Its hunting strategy is really effective: after a long wait on the perch (shrub or isolated tree) it attacks the preys hidden in the grass (big insects and small mammals or amphibians) in order to eat them on the ground or spear them on sharp shrubs or either pointed branches. Another important species that you can find in the Network is the corn crake (Crex crex): it remains hidden in the high and dense grass during the day; during Summer nights its harsh plaintive singing is quite noticeable.
