Monitoring of meadows

In the past the species that lived in meadows were favoured by the human creation of open spaces, while today these species are one of the most endangered groups of animals in all Europe. Some of the causes are the abandonment of the marginal areas, the conversion of grasslands into more profitable lands (intensive agriculture and urban areas), the modification of management practices and the elimination of natural elements typical of the traditional rural landscape (isolated trees, hedges, ditches, etc.)

Surveys conducted between 2015 and 2017 have allowed us to gather important information for the definition of a more structured monitoring program that will allow us to follow the numerical trend of the most significant species.

Concerned areas:

  • Viote
  • Sant'Anna, Malga Brigolina, Malghet (Monte Bondone)
  • Prada (Lamar lakes)
  • Castellano (Villa Lagarina)
